  Philips entered the domestic market the following year with the N1500. Sony's Betamax (1975) and JVC's VHS (1976)  and Panasonic created a mass-market for VCRs.

in Europe Philips had developed the V2000 format, which did not find favour with the rental companies in the UK and lost out to VHS.

 VHS ultimately became the Standard used VHS and SVHS fromats  C-VHS for camcorders In european and American systems  Below are NTsc machines and Pal used for transfer of tapes
